Today you’ll leave the downtown peninsula that you explored on Day 1 , with its shimmering glass towers and cozy brick walkups, and head south to Kitsilano, False Creek, the University of British Columbia, and Main Street. You can cross either the Burrard or Granville Street Bridge, or you can take the funky little foot passenger ferry called the Aquabus. On this side of False Creek which is actually an inlet , you’ll find Craftsman-style houses, glorious gardens , beaches aplenty, and loads of delicious things to whet your appetite.
Granville Island This sandbar under the Granville Street Bridge was once an industrial site where factories churned out barrels, paint, nails, roofing tiles, and heavy machinery.
Kitsilano You have two options, both of which will take you into the neighborhood of Kitsilano. One great lunch option is Fable Kitchen , a casual downhome eatery known for exceptional farm-to-table fare. And if you need a caffeine break, head straight to 49th Parallel for the best beans around town. Hop in your car or aboard the No. Main Street If you have time, head back the way you came and meander on over to Main Street.
And then to dinner. Instead, think shiitake mushrooms in cream curry, wine-marinated lamb popsicles in fenugreek sauce, and an award-winning wine list. Note : This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice.

I need a good comprehensive small book easy to carry, day-by-day suggestion to include Whistler and the Olympic site connection. This small guide book fit the bill. Vancouver is a blast with a very very good public transportation no need to rent a car if you stay in down town and people are very friendly and courteous a few country left with this kind of attitude, Greece included.
Do wonder on your own not joining bus tour ; it is a safe place. If you want to go to skiing in Whistler, get a ski package deal from Greyhound bus from downtown only 2 train stops away. It was incredibly helpful. We have 2 children aged 10 and 7 , and this guide provided something for everyone. The information was accurate and helpful. It even highlighted spots to visit that are a little off the beaten path, and not full of tourists.
I thoroughly recommend this guide to anyone traveling to Vancouver and surrounding area. It has foodie tours, shopping tours, walking tours, day tours, architecture tours, winter in Whistler, Summer in whistler Look no more, this is the guide you need. Great book to take on our trip really came in handy. I found this guide easy to read through or to look up specific sites. Although I have not yet visited Vancouver the main map looks easy to read and follow.
Although I Frommers guides are my bible when traveling. Although I now have the advantage of the internet, I still rely on Frommers and carry the appropriate copy with me. Great product.

Then, at the market itself, browse through the stalls selling produce, pastries, seafood, exotic spices, and more, until you find the longest lineup, which will lead you to the exceptional charcuterie Oyama Sausage Co.
After that, wander over to Edible Canada , a bistro and boutique celebrating all things deliciously local. On the island, also check out Granville Island Brewing for their classic lager, Artisan Sake Maker for a taste of locally made sake, and the Liberty Distillery for a splash of gin.
For a quick snack before dinner, visit the hip little modern Chinese joint Bao Bei two doors up for the truffled pork dumplings or shao bing, a sesame flatbread with lamb sirloin. Finally, dinner. Vancouver has many choices for all budgets and tastes, but for a truly unforgettable culinary experience, go directly to PiDGin in Gastown. I love the dan dan raw rutabaga salad, the pickling spice half squab, the grilled octopus with romesco, and the duck-fat-washed Sazerac cocktail.
Just order the tasting menu, and try them all. Afterward, should you find yourself in need of a nightcap, wander down the street to The Diamond for a handcrafted whisky cocktail.
Go north: In North Vancouver, visit Thomas Haas Patisserie ; he has been named 1 of the top 10 pastry chefs in America, and his croissants, pastries, and whimsical chocolates are worth the trip across the bridge.
Go south: The suburb of Richmond is home to some of the best Chinese restaurants in the world and is just a minute ride from downtown via the Canada Line. Note : This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice.
